Spend Cap
Introduction
Spend Cap helps platforms manage advertising budgets in a structured and granular way. Each spend cap defines a budget amount and schedule, and can be linked to the campaigns that should spend against that budget.
This model is especially useful when a platform wants to align advertising spend with internal business objects such as contracts, insertion orders, or other managed budget allocations.

Concepts
Budget guardrails for campaign groups
A spend cap is a budget control object that belongs to an ad account. It allows a platform to define a budget and time window, then associate campaigns with that spend cap so their spend can be managed against the same allocation.
Spend cap and campaign association
Spend Cap works together with campaign management. When a campaign is created or updated, it can be associated with a spend_cap_id (each campaign is only allowed to be mapped to one spend cap), which allows customer systems to manage the relationship between budget allocations and campaigns programmatically.
Common use cases
Platforms typically use Spend Cap when they need to:
- create budget guardrails for a specific business allocation;
- associate multiple campaigns with the same budget;
- audit which campaigns are tied to a given spend cap.
Additional guidance
If your platform uses Spend Cap, you can find related technical documentation in the following sections:
- API Guidance for spend cap management and campaign assignment
- Financial Data for Spend Cap Daily Summary export schema and delivery details.
CautionSpend Cap should not be considered as an extension of Wallet. It is a separate spend control model with its own workflows, APIs, and export schema. Please review the Spend Cap and API Guidance pages to determine whether this option is the right fit for your platform configuration.
